Explore the Map

This interactive map shows where Grenada's three mangrove species — Red, Black, and White — are likely to establish based on environmental conditions like elevation, topographic wetness, and water flow patterns.

The map offers three views, each reflecting a different approach to site selection. Liberal casts a wide net — it flags everything that might work, but you'll need to verify sites in the field. Youden offers the best statistical balance between catching good sites and avoiding bad ones. Conservative is selective — it only flags areas where the model is most confident, so you'll see fewer sites but with higher certainty. Toggle between them using the layer controls to see how suitability changes.

The map also shows field survey sites (polygons) indicating observed habitat types like mangrove stands, mudflats, and cleared areas, plus individual survey plots (points) where we collected monitoring data. Click any feature for details.
